LEIGH SMITH


"MOTHER EARTH"

Hand thrown and carved vase by Leigh Smith co-founder of Talking Earth Pottery.

Born April 30, 1950, Leigh moved from Buffalo in 1958 to Ohsweken. She began making traditional style Iroquois pots in the 1970's at Mohawk Pottery which was operated by her husband Steve's parents, Elda and Oliver Smith. In 1975 Leigh and Steve started their own studio known as "Talking Earth Pottery". More about Six Nations or Mohawk Pottery
