<A NAME= The Niagara Frontier Dart League
(since 1976)

The N.F.D.L, a "travelling" League, plays on Monday Nights around the Niagara Peninsula from Grimsby, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, and Port Colborne. With the help of people like Don Hurst the League started with 8 Teams, mostly playing at local Royal Canadian Legions. Some of the best area dart players were the backbone of a very competative League which continued to grow through the late seventies and early eighties. In the early 90's the N F D L saw the emergence of some of the top dart players in Ontario, Tommy Martin, Chris Leslie, Gary Mawson, just to mention a few.

In 2001/2002 Season the Executive chose to name the last two Divisions. It is often difficult to single out an individual to acknowledge their acheivemnets and accomplishments. Although a difficult choice the following players were no exception. Based on their contribution to darts and the League through the many years it was unanimous choice to name these divisions after them.

The "A" Division was renamed for Clive Benton, and the remaining Division is now referred to as "the Langley Division" Bernie Langley both members of the Frontier League since the '70's. Clive served a term as President in the early years and has introduced many new players and teams to the game, currently a member of the McGinlay Division, two time Pencup Team Champions "The Shitey Blokes". Bernie has also won many trophies and awards including the Don Hurst Trophy, The Pencup Trophy, and numerous Division Awards. He and Clive along with John McGinlay were instrumental in getting the Peninsula Cup started over 20 years ago. Bernie has also brought many new players to the Boards over the years and is always willing to to give you a game or two at his "local". .

The League Schedule starts in September and runs through until April / May with a "Home and Away" format. At the end of the regular Schedule the Singles and Doubles Events are held for each Division prior to the start of the Playoffs.

Like other Dart Leagues, the N.F.D.L hold a number of Events throughout the area, some are "open" while others are for the Local Leagues. They include, *The Annual Don Hurst {November}, The Toys for Tots {December}, *The Peninsula Cup (*3 Days at the end of February)

The Port Dart League
(Established 1963)

"Where darts are our life!"

?
The Port Dart League, established in 1963 at the Port Hotel, in Port Dalhousie, Ontario, has the distinction of being one of the oldest "in House" dart leagues in Canada, if not North America. The original League started out with just a few members playing at the local pub for a bit of entertainment.

Over the years the League made changes in the format and membership. The format was designed for "fun", with just "01" games played. The members were and still are mostly non-dartists or beginners with a few "regular" dart players thrown in. Registration has remained at $25.00 for a number of years, (one of the few leagues to maintain a set fee)! All entry fees are given back through League purchases, usually in the form of Jackets, T-shirts etc.

Teams are "picked" by the Executive and usually have equal numbers of players on each team. The 99/Y2K Season goes Wednesday nights with teams playing on two boards.

During the year there are a few Tournaments. The "Vito Cup", (Sponsor's Trophy team thing), Doubles, usually blind draw. "The Iron Man" a singles Tournament where all members participate in a total Round-Robin. We have introducd our Final Registration Blind Draw, held on the last Saturday for sign-up.

The PDL is just a good time league with a lot of good people who like to enjoy a night out and "maybe play some darts"! Oh ya...we also have one or two "Annual Golfing Soiree's", where everyone is a handicap!!!

The Port Dart League..where darts are our Life!!!
