About the Artist Brenda Cooperman is primarily a self-taught artist who has painted all her life with varying degrees of dedication. Sometime many years would pass without her once picking up a brush; but at the age of 42 the desire to paint became very strong, and has since been her main career focus. A switch - from oils to watercolours - proved to be exciting, challenging and extrememly satisfying. For the moment, she is still working primarily in watercolours...although the urge to expand and explore her talents has Brenda excited about experimenting with other mediums. Numerous classes with noted watercolourist Tony Ackerman have influenced Brenda's work. Her formal studies have also included summer classes at the Haliburton School of Fine Arts conducted by Gary Chapman and Ed Cronk - watercolourists using a wet on wet technique. Born in 1951, Brenda has been a life-long resident of St. Catharines, Ontario. She is a proud mother of four, grandmother of two, and avid sports enthusiast with a wide array of passionate interests. Ideas for her paintings come from experiences involving her hobbies and her family. Brenda's original paintings have been displayed at the Shorthills Gallery in Fonthill and several art shows in Southern Ontario. "Symphony in the Rain" is her first Limited Edition print. |
