Your Wedding at Barton Stone

 

Your marriage service is first and foremost a worship service in which you make a covenant with one another and with God. In the name of Christ, the church blesses your marriage covenant; praying that you may know the freedom, joy and sanctity of life-long union.

An important part of the life and work of Barton Stone United Church is the celebration of weddings. Our minister, Rev. Karen Inkster, is licensed (by the Province of Ontario and the United Church) to perform wedding ceremonies. We welcome members, non-church members, opposite sex couples and same sex couples to be married at Barton Stone. Wedding ceremonies may also take place at other locations.

Have your wedding ceremony in our traditionally-styled sanctuary, followed by your reception in our upper hall (with adjacent kitchen). We provide the licensed minister and organist; You provide the caterer and hall decorations.

Beer and wine may be served, with you being responsible for purchasing the appropriate license from the LCBO.

Sanctuary
Our sanctuary seats 130-140 depending how close you want to sit to each other! As well an additional 10 seats are available in the choir loft (the best seats in the house!)

Interview with the Minister
Couples being married are required to meet once with the minister to plan the service (there are many choices) and to discuss marriage.

Marriage License
A marriage license is valid for 90 days, and can be purchased at city hall. The license should be left with the Minister at least one week before the wedding.

Rehearsal
Almost all weddings require a rehearsal so that the marriage service may be conducted in good order and with minimal anxiety on the part of the couple and wedding party. The rehearsal usually takes place on the evening before the marriage, and takes about forty minutes. The couple, the wedding party, any additional ushers, and any involved family members should be present.

Confetti
The use of confetti or rice is not permitted in or around the church building, but smiles and laughs are!!!!

Parking
There is parking available on site as well as handicap spaces.
