I am looking for other owners on the west coast of BC or even washington to compare boats and ideas.

Unfortunately I don't own a CL16 yet though I am seriously considering taking the step. The West Coast seems to have a very limited number of sailing dinghies and fleets. I guess that most sailers opt to go to larger boats with all of the coastline available and most sailing done on the ocean instead of lakes. Unfortunate since I think dinghies are the way to start.

This is my first boat and since I can't afford moorage, this is the biggest boat I can afford to maintain. By the way.. people have sailed across the Atlantic in boats this size, so size can be decieving, also, if you wanted to go for a bigger boat down the road then you are right, dingies are definitely the place to start. Where would you sail from?

When sailing in the past I enjoyed Alouette lake in Golden Ears Park, I also sailed in Vancouver Harbour. I would like to try Stave Lake, nearer home, Pitt lake which would be a long sail and maybe Harrison lake which is certainly big enough to make a multi day trip. Actually all of these lakes could be boat camping trips if you want to get away from the busy areas. They should all make interesting day sailing as well. I might be a little careful on Stave since there are a lot of stumps and deadheads though they have taken out a lot of the wood.

I have not done any lake aailing but if I did, I would consider Harison lake, it is big and apparently very windy.

Hi guys!

Been on Harrison Lake (4 day beach camping to the N end and back) two years in a row with a crew in June. Fantastic trips and a real wilderness experience (despite the proximity to Vancouver). Geographically, it was a fjord "back in the day"...

Cheers,
Doug
