When I bought my CL 14 (sail # 1347) last year, I had been thinking about a CL 16
also.
Is the cockpit any bigger in the 16 or is the additional length/beam caused by the aft storage area and wider gunwales on the 16??

We are very busy here at CL, but I have finally had time to do some web work and this is part of it.

You are mostly correct in you assuming the extra length comes from the storage compartment and the wider gunwales. The CL16 was made for family sailing, hence the large gunwale to sit on and the wooden seats. There is more storage on a CL16 and more cockpit room, but this cockpit room is taken up by the teak seats.
