I'm fixing up my father in-laws old CL14 so that his grandchildren can come to appreciate sailing as much as he and I do. The only problem is that the sails are rotten and the last person that borrowed it broke the centreboard. I have priced out the sails on the CL site, I'm sure their worth every penny but I'm working on a very tight budget and was wondering if anyone was aware of any place I could pursue used sails. I will probably end up getting the sails from CL. Also, from what I can see from what is left of the broken centreboard that it is a plywood core wrapped in fibreglass. Is it possible to get a pattern or dimensional drawing of the centreboard as I would like to try to build a replacement.

Thank you in advance for your help and information

When my old CL14 centerboard de-laminated due to outside storage, I bit the bullet and ordered a new fibreglass version from CL.

On an old Kolbi 12", I used the original to make up a replacement board, but it wasn't the exact thickness and chattered when
sailing close to the wind.

Some years ago I had a Finn with a rotted rudder. I had a woodworking shop laminate a plank using wood the same width as the maximum allowable width of the rudder. As I recall we used recorcinol glue (not sure if I spelt that right) because it was waterproof. These were the days before epoxy resins were used so widely.

I then traced out the shape using my old rudder. After that I shaped the leading and trailing edges. I varnished my rudder but I would now paint it white to better see weeds.

You might consider a similar approach for your centrebord.
