My fellow sailors, I recommend that you take the bolt out of the centerboard every so often. So that you know you actually can.
I don't know when the nut on mine was last used, but it is completely rusted so I can't get the centerboard out to put in my new one... I therefore had to cancel my sailing plans for last sunday.

Well I finally got the centerboard out, the nut was glued with epoxy so we had to cut it off.

Now the only problem is getting the new centerboard in. To do this, we have removed the centerboard from its trailer and flipped it on its side. We can get the centerboard in the slot, but it is ridiculously hard to slide the bolt in. Any suggestions are appreciated.

It's been 3 years since I replaced my original de-laminated plywood centerboard but I don't recall any great difficulty sliding the pivot bolt through.
The biggest deal was getting the old board out and the new fibreglass one into place.
