Actually, were grateful to the British for spending fortunes on structures around here between 1749 and 1906 that we still milk for tourist dollars. Some examples are the Citadel, numerous other fortifications all around the harbour and on the two largest islands in the harbour.
For the romantics in the group, Queen Victoria's father, the Duke of Kent also built the Round House and heart shaped pond on the shores of Bedford Basin where he could entertain his wench.
Eventually he was called home to marry a German princess who was suitable as a future queen and their daughter made history. http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?S=R&wtit=prince+his+lady&wauth=mollie+gillen&siteID=_K9TL5uS924-1_ce4_m7_425O.rTxJhc1w

Naw... those landlubbers in the interior like their winches.
We favour a good sassy wench here on the coast.

The roundhouse mentioned in an earlier post is only a few metres away from my apartment (Prince Edward Estates) and the heart shaped pond is up on a hill behind my place too. I'll have to take a hike up someday to take a look at it.
