I posted this note a few months ago but it got blown off when the forums were consolidated.

I have owned my Code 40 for a little over a year and have yet to see another one or meet someone who has ever sailed one. Most of my sailing has been in Muskoka where other CL boats are quite common. I frequently race a guy with CL 14, (and kick his butt almost everytime). It would be great to come across someone with the same boat as me.

There are now at least two of us! Just found this forum while looking for information on the Code 40. We just bought a used one (#101) a couple of weeks ago - we are at Lake Malachi in NW Ontario. It took me about an hour to figure out the rigging, but had a ball once we got going. My sailing experience was a Laser 15 years ago. The Code 40 isn't a Laser, but it sure brought back fun memories. I'm looking forward to teaching my 7 year old son the fun of sailing a fast boat.

Thanks for the response. I bought my Code 40 (sail# 880)used last June and I had similar issues with the rigging. What helped I found was the rigging manual available from CL for about $5. Additionally there are several adjustments to the rigging you can make depending on conditions that take getting use to.

My previous sailing experience was similar to yours, Lasers 15 years ago, this boat is a lot more interesting. Also like you my kids, 8 & 12, are starting to get into it. A good way to begin with them is sail with them and give them to the jib to manage.

Again, it is good to know there are other Code 40 sailors out there. Let's stay in touch.
