I see a lot of "polls" taken on other discussion boards, so I thought I'd try one here. What kind of boat do you own and what do you think is the optimum wind-speed for your boat design?

I own a CL 16 and I think the optimum wind-speed is around 8-12 knots.

I Mirage 33 I sail on seems to like approx. 15 knots.
Enough wind to move us along but no excessive heeling of need to reef in.

I have a CL16 and my best wind speed is about the same a Roberts. I sail solo mostly and more wind makes for a lot work and hiking. I am putting in reef points and that should let me sail in winds up to 20.
However on most water wind over 15, the water begins to get rather rough and bouncy for a 16' boat

My Sandpiper enjoys a nice 10- 15, I like 20, and my wife likes >10
Seriously though, I like whatever wind that can put the rail in the water, but not soil my pants!

I love 12 to 15 knots in my Laser. The boat planes beautifully. I am a bit light to be competative at this speed when I race but who cares: It's just great fun.

I also like drifting along in light Summer zephers (4 knots?). You can just lounge in the cockpit taking in the sun and comtemplating life.

Depends on crew. I'm over 200, my boy is 70-80. We like 12-15 high end. When my brother crews, also over 200, we like up to 20 when all the others are ragging their main.
