I sure hope you guys made it through Juan OK!! I can't believe what I'm seeing on the CBC tonight!!

I can't believe how many sailboats have been lost, not to sadly mention loss of life.

Regards, Eric

Hi Eric..
i was called into work today...we are on emergency generator service.
Still no power at home and we're heading into our 4th night without.
We've been heating water for coffee and meals on the barbeque. At this point we can't trust the food in the fridge any longer
The good news...areas are starting to power back up. They brought power crews in from New Brunswick and Maine to help plus 800 soldiers and reservists along with a couple hundred Navy personnel.
It was scary after 2300 Sunday night.
Large branches came crashing down from my ash tree and took out some of my eves troufg, a storm window and a side window of my van. My English Hawthorn tree fell and knocked out my neighbours new fence.
We lost a few roof shingles...but otherwise came out darn lucky.
A couple of streets over got it really bad.
Great big mature trees all down across wires and leaning on houses. Everywhere you go
same scene in minor or greater detail.
Gotta go do some work...will talk later
Don

Don;
Glad to hear you made out relatively ok!
Good luck getting back to normal, it must be a daunting task.
We'll keep thinking of you all there!
I haven't yet talked to my friends out there yet, as I know Scott will have been extremely busy. He's with the 911 people!!

Wonder if your buddy Scott knows my nephew Chris Renaud?
Chris's dad, Mike, was involved in setting up the 911 system here and now lives between Texas and California, as his company sets up similar systems all over...including Australia.
Chris worked as a dispatcher but now seems to mainly work as a paramedic since he's taken and passed a number of courses.

Saw your thread on roller reefing.
We sailed the Mirage 33 on Saturday, and prepared it for the hurricane.
We forgot to wrap bungies around the reefed genoa and it worked loose. I hear it's ripped to shreads. That sail was new last year at a cost just over 2 grand.
I hope our skipper's insurance company isn't counting.
