I was wondering based on Cody's reply to my earlier post " age of sandpiper " that they have not only held thier value but increased over the years... Have any of you insured your piper and if so for what value. I doubt that I could replace mine for what was paid and to find a boat of the same quality and size (replacement) would be expensive in todays market. Any or all feed-back on this would be greatfuly appreciated.

I did have my boat insured for $5000. But I put a new trailer under it, bought a new 4HP Suzuki motor, Put an interior in it, along with depth sounder, Sound system and GPS. Cockpit cushions. Refinished the wood. And insured her for 10 grand. Hope I never have to see if they will pay up if something happens. Sid

For 15 years we insured ShortWave with the "Skipper's Plan" from Robertson & Robertson. http://www.skippersplan.com/home.html Read the difference between agreed value and actual cash value...it's important to know the differences. It's a daysailor plan that's very applicable to this class of sailboat. It covers the motor, trailer and contents of the boat. In 2001 someone swam out to the swing mooring at TS&CC one day and broke in, stealing my new binoculars. Robertson covered the loss without any problem. The outboard has three padlocks and a steel cable on it.....

Hello Bob, I install a hull liner, and cabin cushions. A privicy curtain for the port-a-potty. Put is a samll sound system, but don't use it much as I enjoy hearing the water. I've been able to get pictures posted here, but still working on it. Hope to maybe go sailing next week, weather permitting, it snowed here today. Sid

We've been hearing about snow falling in various areas of Canada and the states, luckily we haven't gotten any. I plan of launching my boat as soon as possible, but I have to make sure one of my friends is available because, no matter how hard you can try, the CL16 mast will never go up solo.

I'll take some pictures of the mast raising system I built for my sandpiper. I can raise my mast with very little effort alone. I looked at a Mac 25 and copied the basics, but modified it for the sandpiper. I've not been able to post pictures here, but I'm sure I can get someone here to get that done for me. Interesting topic. But hey, guys. Can we not refrain from posting images to the list? They're bulky and for those of us on dial up, they take a long time to download . The real killer is that each day when you return to the thread, you have to download those same images all over again.

Yikes! That would be a pain. Is high speed internet access available where you are? I couldn't live without it, as 4 of us use computers here and my son has his computer running 24/7

Yes. High speed internet is available where I am. And I have high speed. What seems to be forgotten, though, is that the vast majority of netizens are still on dial up. I too am on dial up when I'm at my cottage (at least two days a week, year round, and almost full time during the summer months). My account restricts me to just 10 hours per month of dial up time. Can't download very many images at that.

Well Sid I to am located in the sticks with only dial up @ 21.6k ( smile) But I loved the pics and some things like any Sandpiper is well worth the 1 or 2 minutes it takes. I wouldnt worry unless I think that they were to topic, Insurance and a picture is worth a 1000 words now I can see what you had insured. Thank you and sorry if some had to wait to follow the thread also.
