Greetings from a guy who races his CL14 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA
- the place that's about as far away from a major body of water as you can get on this continent
- the place where any mud puddle that doesn't dry up in a month has a name
- and it's called a lake

That place.

I bought my CL14 sail number 1236 about six years ago. I recently joined a sailing group (PHRF fleet) that races on an old oxbow of the Missouri River. I race the CL14 against Y-Flyers, Thistles, Lasers, and Capri 14.2's.

Just thought I'd let the group know that the boat does enjoy some life outside of the Northeast.

...and regularly gets pasted by all those sub 95 Portsmouth boats, especially in the typical light winds (5-7 gusting to 10 - whoopee!).

But as God is my witness, I WILL defeat the Capri's, just give me some time...

Our boats are fairy close.
My sail and hull number is 1347.
I believe the lady I bought it from
(former co-worker) ordered it at the 1985 Halifax International Boat Show.
The dealer was from our sister province , New Brunswick. I remember this, because
she hoped to avoid 11% Nova Scotia sales tax
but had to pay it anyway.
I bought the boat (like new) three years ago and have yet to launch it.
This is the year!

I think you'll really like the boat, no matter what your skill level. I knew practically nothing when I got mine. It must have been garaged most of its life, and the people who had owned her knew what they were doing. The thwart was even polished!

I haven't trashed it too much, yet. I have found as I have gained experience and sailed on other boats, I've been able to take what I learned or saw and do it on the CL14.

Going out of town for a week, so wanted to reply. Let me know what you think of the boat. And what you name it. I might even know the answer to a question or two.
