Did you notice the 'Challenger' model while you visited the Brit site?
They say it was designed for disabled sailors.

Don;

The "Challenger" looks quite interesting. Last year I was introduced to catamaran sailing for people with disabilities. The drawback to that is that the skipper (usually disabled) requires an able-bodied crew member to do all the grunt work (usually me) We (Dale and myself) may enter the HOBIE 16 (Trapseat) WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Kelowna B.C. on the May long weekend.

On June 1 I will be heading back to NS to spend some time with Celtic Kiss again. The website you sent me earlier has been a great help in my Route planning.

I raced in the Okanagan a few times many years ago when we lived in Vancouver. A few pointers if you race Robert:

It will be very hot even in May (desert climate).

You will be hotter as you should probably wear a wet suit while sailing. The lake being glacier/mountain fed is extremely cold in May.

If the racing is held in the morning and early afternoon you will even hotter still as there is no wind. Keep the wet suit on though because in the afternoon powerful thermals swoop in off the mountains. You'll have the ride of your life in a Hobbie Cat.

During one regatta while racing Lasers, we would see black water racing towards you - Then it was like the hand of God just gave you a swat. Instantly 10 or 15 Lasers would capsize. You can just imagine how interesting this got at gybe marks in a fleet of 70 boats!

Super friendly, enthusiastic keen sailors sail in the interior. You'll have a great time.

That reminds me of my friend participating in his first regatta:
A minute from the start, a huge gust hit the boats neatly lined up at the starting line.
Most of them capsized.

I really wish I'd been there.

Thanks guys. You have me excited about this regatta now. As of today, the Hobie 16 is polished, trailer painted and wheel bearings will be re-placed this weekend. My labour fee is quite reasonable, I work for beer ...
