I am trying to find out how to attach, correctly, the mainsail tack to the boom on my 74 model 16 that I am restoring. I am haing a difficult time locating a shackle that will do the job due to the angle and small opening in the pinhole on the boom. i can get something to work but I want to be as close to original as possible. All of my other larger boats have used a large shackle but this is becoming a challenge due to the small size of the pin hole. One friend sugested that CL may have used a pin rather than a shackle to attach the grommet to the pin hole...any help would be appreciated.

Yup!
The CL 16 and Sandpiper have the same boom, so far as I've seen, and it is just a small pin and split ring.

Shouldn't be too hard to get, CL for sure could help.

Cheers, Eric
