She is beautiful. How did you get the hull to look so clean? How old is the boat. Mine has a really faded baby blur hull and I would love to give it a new life somehow.

It came that way! I went looking for a creampuff and that was the best one I found within a reasonable drive (2000 km round trip)and during a short window. It's a 1986 model and spent it's first 16 years at a cottage in Quebec...next it spent a year on the St. Lawrence at Cap de la Madeleine before the 2nd owner moved up to a 26 foot Grampian. note: the original Easy Hauler trailer was never registered for road use until I bought the boat in 2004.

Here's a couple of the previous owner's pictures that sold me...

Hey Don,

In those pictures, it looks like the furling genoa is ALSO the forestay... is that the case? If yes, how does it behave?

The Sandpiper manual shows a front stay AND the furling genoa.

Just wondering... it would be cool to have the furling genoa and a forestay inside of it so one could hank on a smaller jib without having to take down the genny, or run wing and wing with the genny AND a jib.

Hi Ken... my boat has the Plastimo 406-S furling system with a foil. I'll let you know how it handles when I get it out. http://www.marinescene.co.uk/product/1046/jib-reefing-s-series-406s

Thanks Don.

That's definitely a step up from the stock furling system.

I'm inspired though, so I am going to consider if/how my furler can become a forestay furler... maybe just ensuring the hardware is fore-stay strong.

Cheers,

ken

Beautiful boat Don,

I've been doing a lot of research on finding the right boat, I think the Sandpiper fits the bill. The nearest one I can find for sale is a 14 hr drive. Before I make that trip,I'd like to actually see one first hand. Would it be possible to have a look at yours. This would be at your convenience of course (I'm in Bedford)

I traveled almost 1100 miles to by mine, and it was well worth the trip. I also got the deal of the century. A Sandpiper on a trailer, with a motor for $1900 in good condition.
