The black coloured foam sealing tape around the forehatch should be glued to the hatch, rather than to the hull. Don't make it too thick as it will stress the hinges. The top of the hatch is the most important to seal. There is a channel in the fibreglass deck on both sides of the hatch that will direct the water around the opening and away. Therefore the bottom of the hatch and lower corners don't have to be sealed that well.

Another great tip Ken I never thought about putting the sealing foam on the hatch, but it makes great sense! The foam attached to the cabin top gets worn easily from entry and exit, and passing the boom through, to get into the cabin.
Thanks again.
