Sunday. Using a cooking device on a boat is new for us this year. Last year's Rendezvous showed us that we could take our propane stove aboard, as long as we use and store propane outside. We place 2 propane cans in a 17" piece of 4" PCV pipe with a circular pine bottom screwed in, then sewn into a rip-stop bag with draw-string. Lowered into the fore anchor locker, it shares space with the anchor chain and rode. The anchor locker has a drain hole. Fried foods are rare at our house; so pea meal bacon is a fun addition to eggs at breakfast. Our 8 lb Danforth anchor spends the cruise in a cradle hung from the top of the bow pulpit, ready for deployment. I was considering purchasing a 14 lb Delta for the weeds in this area, but a Trident YC member had advised that the Danforth would be fine. Here Jonathan strips away lots of heavy weeds before departing from our anchorage. We say au revoir to Beaurivage Island anchorage. Looking ahead, Ab leads the fleet in a motor cruise through the smaller passages among the beautiful islands of the Admiralties. Soon our flotilla emerges into the main channel near Gananoque. From here we turn upriver again, into the Bateau Channel, pass the cable ferry, and hoist sail for a lovely cruise home to TYC.

Instead of an informal regatta this year, after lunch the skippers circulate among the boats, sharing sailing knowledge. Here D'Arcy gives us some pointers on sail trim for keeping the boat flat and for maximizing speed. Back at the Club, Barb, Joanne, and Lynda pitch in to barbecue up our two racks of pork into a succulent meal. Everybody is hungry and digs into the food. I would like to thank Lynda, Joanne, and Barb for taking on the BBQ job; it is greatly appreciated. Also the contributions of everyone make for an outstanding event, something to be remembered. From my set of blinders, I wouldn't be able to mention all the neat things that were experienced or shared, but I can recall some. I think of Sid and Ellen's long journey from Colorado to be with us. And Arthur too, from Michigan. D'Arcy brings his life-long racing skills, and stories. Dennis is always right there for you. And thank you, Ab, for being our tour guide this year; both Jon and I thoroughly enjoyed every dimension of our introduction to the Thousand Islands. Looking back over the photos, I am reminded of D'Arcy's comment (hopefully correct): cruising like this among small boats truly captures the spirit of the yachting experience.

Also, many thanks to the executive and members of Trident Yacht Club for their wonderful hospitality and valuable assistance to help make our Sandpiper 565 Rendezvous 2006 such a great success.

Stan, etal, you guys are all killing me!!! I really missed not being able to sail with you all. It looks as though you had another GREAT time!!! Congratulations Thanks for sharing the pictures of this years event! My sailing season hasn't lived up to past years. I think I've been out on Paradise once, on Father's Day. I've only sailed two other times on OPB!(although one of those times was at the BEER cruise in FLA ) Summer is starting to wind down as we're part way through August, so hopefully Paradise will soon splash again before she's put to rest for the winter! Thanks for the heart warming pics guys! Keep 'em coming Eric
