Hello,
I'm new the the CL world. I found a boat locally and am curious what a good offer might be for this. Some gouges in the hull. Can't tell if the board is Wood or glass
Any thoughts, inputs, or ideas appreciated. What else to watch out for if I go look at it?

Bit of Deja Vue for me. I had sail # 1347, a 1985 model, same colour & sails as this one. I bought it in 2000 when it was 15 years old and near perfect condition for $2000 CDN. The only problem...the original keel was plywood, which de-laminated from sitting year after year upside down under a tarp. $250.00 later I had a new fiberglass version from CL. This one doesn't look bad from this distance (assuming you can repair bow) and that trailer should be fine in 'fresh' water. You didn't mention asking price but I'd want to get the whole package under $2K.

Asking price of $695 US isn't too bad than? Provided the hull is solid?

paul; i originally posted the info on this book awhile back on another topic. i am a first time sailor and i purchased my CL14 last year. however, i used a book to help me spot things that otherwise may have gone un-noticed. the book is entitled "Your First Sailboat" author: Daniel Spurr. now, you may think that this book is only about your first keelboat and it is but it does also talk about trailer sailers. it describes what to look out for when looking at used boats as well. this book helped me alot and i spent a good 8 months looking at boats before coming across the one that i eventually bought. hope this helps and good luck.
your photos of your boat look good enough and you can't beat the price but i would have to see it close up to make a better assessment...

Thanks for all the info.
That boat sold before I could go see it. I'm picking up a Buccaneer 18 this week.
Needs nothing but some lines, alot of elbow grease, some new tires on the trailer and a new owner.
The elderly fellow who owned it can get around anymore. Said he bought his first boat for $150, and it was the happiest day of his life. So his price which I didn't even bother to haggle over was $150.
All times are ET(US)
