Someone has advertised a CL16 for sale. The boat number is in the 1600 # range. The sheets are 6 years old. Owner claim that they have been used approx. 20 times since he bought sheets and boat. The Gel coat is chipped off around keel. Other than that, boat seems to be in great shape. No spinaker, no trapeze, no trailer. Is $2800 a fair price?

Hello:

The 1600 sail number rainger is anywhere from 1979 - 1981. To make sure there should be a serial number on the hull at the transom. The last two numbers are the year. The serial number will start with CLWO. For example CLWO...83 = 1983.

Trapeze with a harness is a $350.00 dollar option. Six years ago sheets were about $19.00 for main and 12.00 for jib. Now there are up to $25.00 and $19.00.

The gel being chipped on the bottom of the boat means a pat rocky home (cottage) or some bad trailer work. This should not be a problem if the holes do not puncutre and leak. The fibreglass that is under the gel should be sealed again using gel or a paint. This is a common problem but it is still an area to get the price down.

I can not tell you much more without seeing the boat, if you can send a picture then please do so and I will help, clsail@vaxxine.com ATTN: Cody. Just ensure you check the sails and centreboard are they will soon need replacing.

Best of luck and sorry for the late reply.

Cody
