My CL14 is my first boat and I am already learning that it easy to leave needed or desirable parts and tools at home. On my third sail I discovered two things I left at home. Plastic tape to wrap the shroud adjusters (although I wonder if short pieces of pvc pipe would work better) and the long screw driver to tighten the centerboard friction pad. What I would like to know is what the savvy cl sailor has for his boat and also for the trailer. So, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks

Bob

Good question. Although I have the same boat as you, I do all my sailing on a Mirage 33.
We have a portable tool chest with numerous srewdrivers, pliers, hammer etc plus a
container with compartments to hold variety
of fasteners etc.
Trouble is, on the small boat, not much room for all that.
I have a Schrade 'Tough Tool' (like a big Leatherman) that I would carry on my Cl 14.
Not sure if that would be enough.

I have a CL16 and my tool kit is as follows.
I have a small plastic tackle box.
I carry phillips and sloted screw drivers, 1 long for the centerboard brake. Plyers and vice grips. A 6" adjustable wrench. I have bandaids for crew repairs. Extra pins clips and whatever attachments parts I have. I have a roll of sail patching tape and plastice electrical tape. I have a nylon line 1/4 about 50'. and a flashlight in case I get caught out after dark.
To proteck your sheets from shroud wear several economical options are.
Old plastic golf tubes, PVC pipe I use 3/4" about 18" long.
I have put in a lot of extra stuff that gets left in the boat.
The tackle box is 18 x 8 x 4.
