Is there anyone in the Halifax, N.S. AREA, OR IN n.s. with a cl16 and would be willing to give me info,or see it. I'm thinking of getting a 14 or 16, but need to see a 16 'in the flesh' in order to decide. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Ardefen
The perfect guy would be Robert and his
'Celtic Kiss'.
He came back home from Calgary mid March and is sailing his Cl 16 somewhere up around New Glasgow. If you have the patience, you may find a post of his in the last two months that give better details of his sailing waters.
I know he has family in Dartmouth.

Thanks. I'll try and contact him; also hope for more responses. Thanks again.

I was in the same boat as you three years ago.
A guy from the valley had a CL 16 for sail for $3500. I was was also looking at the
CL 14 I finally bought at $ 2000.
The CL 16 had a trailer and canvas cover, so the price spread wasn't really so bad.
It came down to the fact that I already owned a fairly new steel boat trailer and the
$ 1500.00 seemed a lot of money at that time.
Also, I couldn't rely on my wife to crew. I felt that the 14 would be easier to sail and certainly 'right' if capsized.
Right to this day, I wonder if the wider gunwales and lazeratte storage on the 16 is
worth extra $$.
I should also mention that I can store my mast kitty corner in a standard 12' x 20' garage. The 16 mast is a foot or so too long.
The cockpit on both boats is almost the same size. The seats on the 16 are half an inch deeper. Sure wished I had the two in front of me at the time. Back in the early 80's the CL people/local dealer would have product
at the Halifax Internatonal Boat Show.
I can remember a Sandpiper on display at Historic properties on the waterfront.

Thanks for responses, including relative merits of 14 v. 16. Hope to take up the offer of a visit to Canso. Have relatives here from Africa and England at the moment so I'm a bit tied up until the 22nd.

Thanks again.
