I'm looking at putting anti-fouling on Barefoot but I have the problem of how I paint where the bunks are.

Can you make some suggestions please.

Thanx in Advance.

Do what I did, pay someone to do it for you.

If you use an "aggresive drying" anti-fouling like VC-17 you could jack up or slide boat back slightly just before launching. Paint on the missed spots. By time you put the paint away it will be dry enough for launching.

I have used a anti-fouling wax. It is clear, not messy and it doesn't show.

Price is not too bad and I should be happy that I did not have to draw a water line.

If you ever need the brand name let me know.

Hi John,

I've heard of this anti-fouling wax before. Is it the Aurora VS721 Bottom Wax? Barefoot will be in the water all summer. How do find your wax works?

My boat has never been painted. I only wax the hull, and I keep it in fresh water all summer. It gets a bit gunky but in the fall I power wash the hull and almost every thing comes off. I can tell where I missed a spot because it doesn't wash off so easily.
Fresh water isn't nearly so aggressive as salt, so it's not the same situation as you guys on salt water must deat with.
I use a 3M marine paste wax, nothing special. It does not claim to be antifouling.

Although I've got VC-17 (I Iike the black colour) a number of people on our lake use the wax. Once or twice a season they swim around the hull and rub the slight scum line off the waterline. I don't think it works quite as well as VC-17 but it's close.

If you like the all white hull and topsides look, it would be the way to go.

I may look into the wax. I plan to drysail...with the odd 2 or 3 night adventure.
I do like my 'clean white' look, top & bottom.
