VC17-VC 17m is a thin-film antifouling containing TeflonŽ for use in freshwater and low fouling saltwater. This product dries quickly so you can paint and launch your boat in the same day!

Interlux Bottomkote XXX was specifically designed for the Canadian market, and is a proven performer for both coastal and inland areas. It represents an excellent value for money option.

Interlux Fiberglass Bottomkote is the standard against which all other antifouling paints are measured. It can overcoat any existing bottom coat and offers solid protection against all types of fouling, including Zebra Mussels.

Interlux Micron CSC. The innovative copper-copolymer formula of Micron CSC provides a controlled release of antifouling biocide at the paint surface, which means that the longevity of the coating is related to the amount of paint applied.

Micron CSC will not lose its effectiveness when hauled out of the water for extended periods of time (such as winter storage). All that is needed to reactivate the paint in the spring is to wash the surface using a stiff brush or lightly powerwash.

Interlux Epoxycop. Combines a high cuprous oxide load with modified hard resin technology providing tough, abrasion resistant paint for high-speed vessels and trailered or dry storage boats. Can be applied directly over most properly prepared anti-fouling paints.

I thought I read somewhere that it's best to apply VC17 just before launch, or as soon as possible before launch for best results. Is this true? There are a few boat owners around, who appear to get a head start, and do their bottoms in the fall.

My boat came to me with VC17, so I continue to use it. As Interlux points out, the coating is very thin. I've noticed quite a bit of build up with other anti fouling paints.

How often should you apply anti-fouling?

It depends....in fresh water we could get away with every other year. You'll know in the fall when you haul the boat out after 5-1/2 months in the water. Salt water is harder on boats and VC-17 isn't really recommended for salt or brackish waters.
