Now the skipper is getting me excited. The latest boat he is looking at is a Bristol 32. see: http://www.bristolowners.org/32/bristol32.html I love the looks of this yacht and the one he will checkout is supposed to be in very good condition for a 1966. this is good because the skipper is fussy and likes nice cars (Mercedes Benz convertible 4 seater), house, furnishings etc. I will go with him to check this one out and may actually encourage him to buy if the survey is good. Yes...I think I'd look right at home behind the wheel of this boat! IP: 142.167.224.116 |

Bristols are great boats. I posted in your recent "Hughes 36" thread how my wife had reminisced about her family's Bristol 34. They sailed her on LI Sound in the 70s. She loved that beautiful boat.Yes, definitely encourage this acquisition! ------------------ Kevin Shortstay III, #901 IP: 198.115.167.21 |

Oh now this IS much better, Don!!!!!!! No comparison to the Hughes. I'm a sucker for the older yachts, with lots of teak, and graceful overhangs Good luck EricIP: 130.63.85.93 |

When I was a young guy in Junior Sailing we would read Yachting magazine and dream of owning boats like a Bristol. The mizzen rig was my favorite.I believe Sailing magazine did an article a few years ago on best buys for older boats. I can't remember if Bristol was in it but I wouldn't be surprised. The Alberg 30 another one of my favorites was. D'Arcy IP: 67.70.90.184 |

Funny you should mention the Alberg 30. The top guy at the CBC for the Atlantic Region was selling his last year. He had brought it with him from his previous post at St. John's NL...but I think it may have been constructed of wood. Beautiful looking boat, although it seemed small and low in the water compared to the Mirage 33.IP: 142.167.224.116 |
