In the 1984 Canadian Sailboat & Equipment Sourcebook, the Luna appeared between the J-24 and the Shark. There were 2 versions: the Luna 24 1/4 Ton (a racing machine) and the Luna 24 SL (the cruising version). The description for the 1/4 Ton mentions that there was an aluminum frame inside the hull to provide strength and rigidity. Cool! The book did not mention if the aluminum frame was incorporated into the cruising model. Other features: - large cockpit with large storage locker under the floor; - all lines led aft; - displacement: 2600lbs - ballast: 1500/1250lbs In my opinion, she is a very pretty boat: kinda like a big-sister 'Piper. Hey Short:Post some pictures. I have never seen one. The line drawing in the guidebook made her look pretty. Congratulations! IP: 69.156.0.185 |

This is the cruising model? This boat looks fast sitting on the trailer. She looks like a mini-Tartan 10 on steroids. I want to see the interior!IP: 69.156.0.185 |

That boat looks in super shape. Nice lines. I wonder how hard it will be to launch & recover...or do you use a crain to lift off & on?IP: 156.34.82.87 |

Ooooo, looks pretty fast! Lots more strings to pull with this baby Looking at the trailer, I'd say it's not a launching trailer, meaning it requires a lift in. Very nice trailer though. You could take her to races on the weekends What does she draw and what's her rating? Eric[This message has been edited by Eric (edited May 26, 2005).] IP: 216.209.109.146 |

Fantastic job, Fred. I wish you every happiness aboard Moonshine... And I'm relieved we won't have to read your crying about not having a boat anymore!!! But seriously, please don't forget about us trailer-sailors. Your experience, wisdom & encouragement have always been a major asset to this board. It would be greatly impaired by not having you around. [This message has been edited by Shortstay (edited May 30, 2005).] IP: 198.115.167.11 |

Coming from someone who races, you will not be disappointed with this boat!!! I love the lines and the set up of it. They are a quick boat, but you will be impressed with how well it handles, even in some rougher water. FYI in NS, handicap for J24s are about 156. NICE BOAT!!! ------------------ Rob Belliveau 1976 Sandpiper 565 "CoolBreeze" Halifax NS Dartmouth Yacht Club IP: 24.222.184.133 |

Great looking Boat Don !!! With all if those extra controls, the image that I have of you single-handing her on Whitefish Bay makes me think of that old line about "One-armed paper hangers"...... ;-pIP: 141.117.228.250 |

Any feedback on how the Luna24 SL has performed Fred (aka 2short)??? I'm very curious to hear some opinions, as I'm considering buying one as well. Anything strange discovered yet? Tweekiness?? I hear that there was only a few of these boats made? Anyone have the full scoop? Thanks a lot, Scott email: scottborstad@yahoo.com

Fred, I have impure thoughts about your boat. I am devoted to my 'piper and have vowed to keep her forever: til death do us part. In fact, I am planning a viking's funeral. If I had a million dollars and the top 537 items on the wish list were satisfied, I would buy myself a Luna. Has anyone ever seen a (Rodger) Martin 24? It would appear to have the same pedigree. IP: 65.93.119.123 |
