This was early last fall. The weather was iffy and the wife wasn't interested in sailing out to greet the 'Queen', so I drove out to York Redoubt to see QM2's first visit. She was just off the lighthouse om Maugher's Beach, MacNab's Island...middle harbour.IP: 142.177.154.253 |

What a souvenir.I used to be a weather man on a destroyer in 1970. I passed along MacNab's Island so many time. What a beautifull place Nova Scotia is. I loved watching the port from up the hill at the Citadel. Gotta show this province to my girlfriend this summer. Ciao

Which ship were you on? A good friend was on the Fraser, and my youngest sister eventually married (& divorced) a sailor from same ship.Just remembered...you got to see the Queen Mary 2 before we did. I think they were trying to line up our date with an anniversary for Samuel Cunard, the local man who founded White Star & Cunard Steamship Lines. I was on DDE 229 HMCS Ottawa. What a beautifull ship this QE2. I saw her in Quebec last summer. Yous should've see her turning in front of the Chateau Frontenac. You'd tought she would touch on both side a the same time. Cheers IP: 66.131.10.7 |
