I like surfing through the sailboat section of Ebay. Lots of junk, most of the time. Once in a while something comes along, and I wish I'd never seen it!
I have an affinity toward Hinterhoeller Yachts, especially the old ones. Some day, I'm going to get one, probably a HR25, or maybe even what's in this Ebay listing!
It's an old 30' Redwing! George Hinterhoeller had C&C design this boat for his production, before the formation of the C&C of the '70's.
Check this boat out For an auction boat she looks well cared for, beautiful infact! The teak is varnished, the interior is clean, the cushions look reasonable, and get a load of the polished dorade/vent(not sure what the term is)The current high bid is grossly undervalued. $2700 for a 30' boat is a steal, especially this Redwing!
Purchasing this boat wouldn't be a problem for me, but at this time, I couldn't afford the yearly fees . Trailering the Sandpiper suits our needs well at this time.
Some lucky sailor is going to make out like a bandit on this boat!!

Yes, not a bad price so far. Boat does show well in the photos, even for its age.

Myself, I'm looking for a newer boat with diesel and wheel steering if I go that big.

I almost bid on a J24 from these guys, but I didn't want to buy it sight unseen and I didn't have time to travel at the time.

They were a beautiful boat. My parents came very close to buying a new one. After many weeks of thinking it through and some heated family debates we decided to keep our belved Shark and buy a cottage proerty instead. My Dad loved one design racing in the shark fleet. On any given Saturday, 50 Sharks would be on the line at MYRC regattas.

In classic Hinterhoeller style, the hulls are bullet proof. If my wife sees this add there will once again be some long discussions about owning a larger boat. (A bit of Floridian cruising perhaps?)

I'm very happy to see that the bid has gone way up overnight!! It's at $4550 at this time! Still really cheap though! I hope the winnig bid doubles again, because this boat looks like it's worth every penny. It still has the pretty frilly curtains on the port lights!! .
If you google the Redwing, there's a guy in Niagara on the Lake with one, and a super website. In one of his pics, the boat looks just like a 30' foot Shark, or HR25. The lines are very similar! Yes the boats of that time were made bulletproof! I've looked at an HR25 for sale once. Seems over constructed.
What I like about the Hinterhoeller, is the raised toe rail foreward, the teak trim on under all hatches and cockpit lockers, and the teak coamings! Lots of maintenance, but once brought up to show condition, not hard to keep up. It looks so beautiful and rich.
Sorry, rambling on here
