Greetings all,
I have an old German made boat which the previous owner told me is the exact same thing as the CL Echo. The pictures would agree. I'm trying to find out what the max horse power rating would be, or better yet what the max weight would be that I could mount on the transom. I was thinking of going with the Yamaha 4 stroke 2.5, but if I could I'd rather go with the 4hp as it will be more useful on other boats.

When I owned my CL 14, I had planned to buy a Yamaha 2.5 hp four stroke reg shaft. It was either that or the little Honda 2 hp. I wouldn't hang a heavier 4 hp outboard off a small 12 foot sailboat. In fact, many people would advise a small 2 stroke to save weight.
