About 120 pounds....
Cl 16 has nice comfy gunnels to sit on vs Cl 14...which are nore like the edge of a 2' x 4"
I've been told that the 16 is a bit harder to capsize...but harder to right if you do.
Cl 16 has lazerette storage
I originally bought a 14 because I couldn't rely on the wife to sail with me...since then she has assured me she would and I upgraded to Sandpiper 565

Thanks for the info. What would you suppose the difference in price on a decent used CL16 vs. CL14.

I have see a used 20yr old CL14 (with standard equipment)in the paper for around $2500.

At the time i bought, a former co-worker was selling her 'like new' 14 for $ 2K CDN without trailer. A guy 50 miles away wanted $ 3.5 K for his 16 with a trailer.
Right now there are two CL 14s in the Halifax paper for $ 2 K and 2.5K

Thanks. I am in the Halifax area. That is my debate. Do I try and get one of the CLs here or do I go up to Ontario and get a CL16 (which is what I really want) and spend the money transporting it back here.

That Toronto trip would cost at least a grand. I did the same and travelled to Cap de la Madeleine for my 'Piper. Gas on my brother-in-law's truck was about $ 300.00 + 3 nights hotel & grub. Toronto is almost twice the distance...but if you wanted to take the trip anyway......
On the other hand..you may be able to convince Robert to let 'Celtic Kiss' go. Some Calgary woman seems to have taken his fancy and the poor boat sits forlorn & idle in Guysbrough county.

Really!!! That would be ideal!!! I want to get out and sail a CL16 but the cost of going to Ont seems like such a waste. I am from Antigonish Co. orginally.

I have never sailed a 14 before however, the fellow I just completed my WS1 in a 16 did He said there was no comparison. We pushed the 16 pretty hard in 15 knot winds and never felt out of control or in danger of capsizing. He said he frequently went for a surprise swim in the 14 when an unexpected gust came up.

Yeah that doesn't sound to fun. I have always liked the idea of a CL16. My reason for considering the CL14 was because I don't like the idea of having to get one transported to NS.

So? What is the outcome of this saga? You've left us all on tenterhooks!!!

I mean the boat purchase, not Robert, Celtic Kiss & the Calgary woman!!!

Nothing really exciting on my part to tell. Everyones postings has me looking for a CL16. I would rather get one here... than have to shell out money to get one transported. But the Celtic Kiss sounds like it would be more than just a CL16. Robert has put a lot into her. And I doubt that he would let her go.... but I have sent him a message to see.

Other than that after the Tall Ships festival I am really aching to get out on the water.
