Hi, Has anyone noticed if their CL 16 foredeck flexes a little or makes stress sounds as they go forward on it to access the dock? My foredeck stiffeners on the underside of the deck have a hole and a couple of cracks on the one that runs down the centre, but for the most part appear to be in good shape. When I go forward my deck flexes slightly and I was wondering if this is normal or if my stiffeners are lacking in strength. The stiffeners are made out of cardboard tubes with fibreglass matte covering them.
I have some gelcoat cracks outside the raised V part of the deck, where its point meets the foredeck. I also have gelcoat cracks around the outside seem above and below where the rubrail is. They are at the stern corners, mid beam, and bow. Is this normal?
Thank You Shaun

My CL16 has a flexible foredeck also. My boat is very old # 438. I have not noticed any cracks. I walk on my deck while rigging off the trailer and have not worried about the flexing. I sail solo so I have no choice about stepping on the foredeck. I am about 190 lbs. Tom D CL16 # 438
