well i had mine this year reach a speed of 22.6kmph or a little over 12knots it was exciting there was a good blow from the north west about 25+ knots and 4' waves "so i get the need to go really fast sometimes"
i could feel the boat start to take off as a puff came and then i caught the wave then next thing u know we were off. I could feel the bow digging, i was already sitting at the back hatch to try to ride the this wave i got my crew to slid back to get the nose from diving then it was like the turbo kicked in. The nose popped out of the water then the only part of my boat that was even touching the water was the back 1/3 she was almost skipping over the water. i then looked down at my watch "GPS" my speed said 22.6kmph. wow i said to myself then i wanted more but then about 2 min later we were off plane and yelling whoo hoo!!!! that was awsome. the slightes movement on my tiller sent us jerkin around it was awsome.

now i think that i have gone faster than that but i dint have any way to to prove it
all i know some day i will see what these thing can really do

Hey Colin:

We have a little fibreglass dinghy at the cottage. It is heavy for its size and doesn't carry much sail. But, it can get up and dance given enough blow.

One trick that I have found is that she will jump into turbo mode if I kick the bungy off and let the centreboard pivot up:
- less centreboard drag through the water; and,
- less weather helm drag (more leeway).

I don't know if the VMG is optimum but it is exhilarating to skip across the water and choke on spray and foam. I have no idea how fast she has travelled: probably some fraction of the CL16 speed.

Sounds like fish stories to me.
Hey Super Piper, when are you going to join the fun in the CL16 race fleet?
