I have CL16 # 788 and bringing it out of storage after 8 yesrs. I'm located 50 mi. East of Ottawa and wondering if there are any other owners in my area? Also I am rigging a spinnaker for the first time and wondering if there are any hints or suggestions out there? I have the manual and will follow the directions but is there any spacific tricks or changes that I should know about? Hebb Russell

Bonjour monsieur Russell!I read your message from a few days ago (I am writing to you on May 26th). I too have a CL16 (number 908, it's a 1975). I'm located in Casselman and I sail in the bay of L'Orignal. Great spot! Perhaps you and I can share some info? I am in the process of replacing my centreboard... and looking after my stress cracks in the floor. Anyone in this forum care to address the glassing/painting process? I cut my new centreboard from 3/4 inch B.C. fir and it's nicely sanded (my other half is handier with tools than I am). What is now the process for fibreglassing? Apart from the obvious glass cloth and marine paint, should I apply some kind of primer paint? Thanks! IP: 216.254.202.82 |

Why paint? but pigment in the resin. What ever color you want. Sid IP: 67.40.133.135 |

ZALIBU I am located 1 mi. East of L'orignal on the Ottawa River and directly accross from the mouth of the Rouge River. I plan on having my boat in the water soon. Please call me anytime so that we can get together with the boats and compare notes. Hebb Russell 613-675-2338IP: 64.230.160.89 |

GREAT! Yes indeed monsieur Russell, we should compare notes and I will give you a call. Are you home tomorrow (Friday, June 4)? Incidentally, I could mention I am the third owner of the Lou-Ric and that the previous owner (he had the boat for some 23 years or so) had tried the spinnaker, but he didn't like it...Among answers I am seeking is to find out how other CL16 owners fared with glassing over the hairline cracks in the floor... and upkeeping the port and starboard cables (halyards? I'm sorry, but my nautical vocabulary escapes me right now...). My issue is that I've replaced one of the starboard rivets two or three years ago and that I may have to replace the second one. However, what material do these rivets go into? What is underneath? I have a half-inch stress crack next to the soon-to-be-replaced rivet and I'd hate to be sailing only to have that metal cable whip me as it suddenly lets go. Any comments from the other group users? Success! Bonjour again, monsieur Russell! Well, it's done: my girlfriend and I glassed our CL16 floor. We expect it to be a lot stiffer. In addition, we have new headstock for the rudder. This week, we'll screw the benches back in, I'll check the rudder pins and the cleats and I hope everything will be a go for a launch!Regards, Zalibu quote: Originally posted by Hebb Russell: ZALIBU I am located 1 mi.
