Very nice, Christy! I look forward to more tales of your adventures!I see you're a Barenaked Ladies fan. For a week last winter I taught skiing to Lyle Robertson, Ed's little boy, at Okemo Mountain Resort in VT. Ed played at a Thursday apres-ski party at the resort bar. When I heard about this guest playing at a ski party, I was "WTF?!?" I had no idea who he was! A great guy & a great tipper! His son was delightful. Natalie was also a great lady. I didn't get a chance to spend time with their daughter, Hannah, but the instructor who did said she was a doll. Hopefully, I see them all again next season. IP: 198.115.167.40 |

Great stories. I enjoy the tales of short adventures as much or more the the sagas of great sea adventures. You make your stories interesting to read and humerous. I like to write about my adventures also but this year I haave not sailed many times. Great Sailing Tom D CL16 #438 IP: 64.12.117.13 |

Hi Christy, good blog. I am curious about how you happened on a CL. I live in Missouri and have been seeking one because it seems like the right boat for me. One question: how low is your boom? Have to duck a lot? Looks like in your pic, your mainsail is not all of the way up the mast. Is this possible? SueIP: 4.245.25.238 |

Hi, Sue!You are correct that the mainsail was not all the way up when that photo was taken last season. I was having lots of trouble with that. I recently Sail-Kote'd the rope bolt on the mainsail and the mast groove -- two coats! -- and I'm hoping that make the mainsail just 'fly' up the mast. Will test that next week. I intend to post the story of how I came to own Central Air -- and how she got her name -- in my blog soon. The short story is that it was pretty random. Wasn't really even *seeking out* a boat, let alone a CL. I hope that you find your boat soon. She's out there! Thanks for the post, Christy IP: 65.60.136.41 |

If the main is difficult to raise you may have a small compression in the mast by the sail track. I had one and didn't know it. I was thinking about using slugs so I could leave the main on and put a sail cover over it. I purchased a slug and slid it along my mast and found a couple of places where minor compressions were. I used a light pry bar and opened the slot a little until the slug moved smoothly the entire length. The sail now slides up easily all the way. Good sailing Tom D CL16 # 438 IP: 64.12.117.13 |
