The subject of posting pictures too large for dial-up users to open quickly comes up periodically, so I'd like to keep this thread going until we solve the problem.
First, we know that everybody likes to post pictures, and everybody likes to see them.
So we must learn how to reduce both the density (is this a correct term?) as well as the image size (so that we can see the whole picture without scrolling - for almost all pics).
I've been trying to work on this since Sunday Sailor started this thread. Here are my findings so far, my not being a computer whiz. So please help me where my knowledge stops.
1. I couldn't figure out how to use Irfanview, so I abandoned that until I get more assistance.
2. I opened my large pictures into an LE version of Photoshop, where I could brighten up the dark spots, and reduce the pixels, and select a print size.
This process gave me what I thought was a nice postable size picture, but at 500 pixels, I don't know if it's still too big for dial-up users.
Here is a test photo:
Pixels: 504k
Print size: width: 6.625 inches
height: 5 inches
resolution: 72 pixels
Please let me know how this is opening for you.

What needs to be done to improve this? Am I out to lunch here, or is this a worthwhile exercise?
