Just a quick post from the new owner of CL16 #299. The guys at the factory tell me she is from the early 70's. She is in remarkable condition for her age. They are fixing me up with some serviceable sails, and other than a little tweeking, it's all she needs to go sailing. She spent most her life on Beaver Island, but has been in storage for ten years. I will be sailing mostly on inland lakes. I am returning to sailing after a many year hiatous with the hopes of getting my wife hooked. Can't wait to get her in the water! (The boat that is.)[This message has been edited by mharshey (edited September 20, 2004).] [This message has been edited by mharshey (edited September 21, 2004).] IP: 198.208.160.27 |

Congratulations. Great to see the older boats still being used. They don't deserve to be just left sitting around on the hard.IP: 142.177.36.86 |

Congratulations on your new boat! My husband and I just bought a CL 16 (ID 797) in August, and are having a blast. You'll really love her! We still haven't managed to name our boat yet- I wonder what other CL16 owners have named theirs? We went sailing out on Lake Chautauqua (Western NY) on Saturday with 15mph winds and had a blast. It was a little cold (temp was 55 Fahrenheit) but we had a great time! Hope you have as much fun with your CL16 as we do with ours! IP: 65.160.68.146 |

Congrats.Wow, it seems like this forum is getting a lot of new members. It's like all the CL boats have been hidden and suddenly everyone's buying them this year. ------------------ Canadian Sailor ;) "Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. The name on the boat now is "Aquarius" Boy does that reek of 1970. Not sure if we will change it. Is it bad luck to do so? My Moms name is also "Leah". We thought about the name "The Leah Marie", but I think I'll save that one for my 44' Hunter (Ha-Ha).IP: 198.208.160.27 |

Congrats I also have an old CL16 #438 from the early 70s. I have sailed on Lake Michigan near Pentwater and on several large inland lakes as well as the small lakes. It is a great boat and very stable. It will perform very well for a 365 pound hull. Good luck on gettin your wife to sail. Mine is fearful of water and doesn't like the tippy feeling on a small boat. O well we are both drawing Soc Sec so I doubt I will ever change her. BEFORE YOU CHANGE THE NAME YOU MUST GO THROUGH THE PROPER DENAMING RITUAL. The have been a couple of versions in the past on this site. Good Sailing Tom D CL16 # 438 IP: 205.188.117.21 |

Yes, trust me.....you should do the de-naming ceremony before you christen your boat. http://www.48north.com/mr_offline/denaming.htm [This message has been edited by whited (edited September 21, 2004).] IP: 142.177.157.233 |

Thanks! I'm leaning toward leaving her "Aquarius". It's starting to grow on me, and besides she has made it this far why risk it now.IP: 198.208.159.14 |
