Finally saw a CL16 up close at St. Peter's Marina on the Bras d'Or Lakes. Must say I was impressed with the size difference compared to my former CL14. The boat looked big & rugged. Loved the wide gunwales, the teak seats and the flat floor. This one was sail # 2485 and was in great shape. I suspect it's a newer one. Later on I saw it sailing from across the cove where we were staying. You can't see the CL16 from the pictures below. It was beached behind the 'super yacht'. That was the original plan to make up for missing the rendezvous. I wimped out after the rib injury on Monday. Didn't want to have to wrestle with the boat trailer and rigging the boat etc. My crew would have been less than willing also...starting with my 90 year old mother , my oldest sister and then the wife. My number 3 sister (lives down there) was very disapointed, and was working with a friend to get me out as crew for the sailboat race. I declined. No deck monkey activities for at least another week. A couple of years ago, the cousin with the cottage gave me these pictures... notice how close the ocean and St. Peters Bay is here...(upper part of picture). Just out of the picture is the famous St. Peters canal that another cousin looks after. (unusual double lock system.. low ocean tide...lake higher, high ocean tide and the ocean is higher) note: pictures on seperate post [This message has been edited by whited (edited August 07, 2005).] IP: 142.167.237.236 | |
