Well today was the first sail of the season.
Moderate winds and a good 3 hour cruise around the old bay. Things worked great with the new main halyard, now every day is going to be a chore to stay out of the boat and get work done but I guess thats what summer is all about. The wife told me that she will agree to work in the mornings, sail in the afternoons so it may work out .

Way to go, glad you were able to get on the water.

I'm still waiting on parts. They don't stop me from sailing, but think I'll wait on them.

Way to go Bob!
You've broken the ice now! I understand about the chore thing. It's hard to let a good day go by doing chores when the sailboat sits in the driveway, WANTING to be sailed

Where do you normally sail?

Eric ;
Yes seeing a nice little craft sitting on a trailer in the driveway on a nice day is hard to do, but this is even worse GypsyII sits right out my front door in the water, Main on slugs and just teasing me knowing its 5 or 10 minutes to be sailing and the wife is betwwen me and the halyard (haha).
I live on the west shore of Goulais Bay, Lake Superior ( south east end around Sault Ste. Marie area )
Most days the bays fine 6mix4mi but the open waters great if I can get enough time to spend a night or two on one of the islands.

OK, anymore posts like that and I'm going to have to drive my Piper up there. It reminds me of my days living in the Kewenaw penninsula and a bunch of us would pile in a car and drive to the lake shore and look out over Lake Superior. None of the other Great Lakes are the same. Lake Superior is - superior. I would LOVE to have that at my door. If you ask me, an opportunity to sail in that type of environment is unique; few people in the world have that option. You should take it. You'll never look back and say "I wish I had spent more days working", but if you find yourself, years hence, contemplating your life and memories and what really made it enjoyable, sailing Lake Superior has to be high on the list.
Skip the chores, go sailing.
