That'll be a great looking enhancement to your home. Does the code out there not require the headers over the window be doubled and with the 3.5" up and down? -Steve

Hi Steve,, The header is constructed of two 2"x8" boards of the correct length nailed together with 3.5" common nails. A 2"x6" board is then nailed across the bottom (right angle?)with same 3.5" common nails. This 'structure is then fastened to the 2x6 top plate and vertical studs. Next the 2x6 jack studs are attached to support the header weight. I probably have scraps of wood that I can make up an example so I could photograph an end view if you like.
