#2 is my trusty preventer, and all around great crewman! Here's a little colour shot, from the shores of Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe, This one is for D'Arcy, and Fred . It's a Shark! Not sure which nameplate is on it, [Hinterhoeller or C&C] but he has the beautiful teak coamings. This boat is in great shape! What a great sail to wind out the season! I'm very thankfull that I was able to sail in 6 months this year. My first outing was the May 2-4 weekend! I think we did pretty good Eric IP: 206.172.171.155 |

I notice that he seems to be screaming past you. Brings back memories. Soon I'll post on my boat quest. Fred IP: 67.68.136.106 |

Great pics, great crew. I wish I could have been sailing that young. I wish I sailboat when my children were that young. Now they are 17, 19 & 21 and take up a lot of room on the Sandpiper. This is my 1st year and had them out once. My wife is my crew. We,ve camped overnight on windy island 3 weekends this year. I can hardly wait for the gathering. I think I have one sail left in me before I put her away for the winter.IP: 209.195.116.47 |

Oh ya Fred!! When we got to a point to catch his attention, we both tacked, and I estimate I had 100m on him. For a little while I was keeping ahead, but the Shark powered up and soon came along side, as you see in the pic! I woulda wooped him , except as you know, he has much more waterline !!! Plus, this guy knows how to maximize his boat's potential!!As far as getting my sons on the water, it is my hope that sailing helps build their character, and that they continue to grow in the sport. My Dad was a sailor, and worked for a well know yacht builder when I was young. We didn't have a boat, but I think had he not gotten ill at the age he did, I would have been sailing a Sunfish or something. I think it was one of his dreams to share sailing with me. I guess that's why I get my sons out as much as I can, and make their time aboard fun!! It's excellent quality time together as well! Personally, I don't know why I waited so long to get into sailing myself! Eric IP: 130.63.85.93 |

The best part of sailing with your little kids (I have a son 9 & daughter 6)?No TV. No DVDs or VCRs. No video games. Just you & them & the great outdoors... ------------------ Kevin Shortstay III, #901 IP: 198.115.167.11 |

Great shots Eric. The Shark is an older one similar to my Dad's first boat #471 called "on The Rocks". They're the ones with the teak coaming. I suspect he's using another boats sails because I think they switched to fiberglas coamings by time they produced 914. You were sailing on a day that is the Shark's optimum wind speed. In lighter winds I think you would do better. I'm still learning the subtle points of Sandpiper sailing but they seem start healing sooner than a Shark would so you have to power down a bit to keep them driving level at speed. Our guys are 20 & 23. They love Shortwave. They both came up through junior sailing programmes racing Lasers. It's a joy to watch them handle our boat now. They're real boatmen. Again terriffic pictures. D'Arcy IP: 67.70.85.174 | |
