The rest of you have already commented, but I would like to say what a great weekend the rendezvous was for both me and my daughter Lisa. People were wonderful, and a special thanks to Dennis for helping me put my boat in and out, and also for standing by at 3 am when I considered taking Lisa to hospital with stomach pains!!! Thanks Dennis and JoAnn!Parry Sound was a perfect location, though just a bit far. 8.5 hours driving each way. I made it back in one day although both 400 and the 401 were crazy. After coming home from the rendezvous, I went sailing on Lake Huron on a J-105, so I am just back home and have read the posts. Nobody mentioned the wonderful Sandpiper pennants that we all got at the rendezvous, or the sandpiper mugs, those were great mementos. Also, nobody mentioned that we frequently discussed the people that post but couldn't come. I am looking forward to seeing more photos. With all the cameras and all the photo op's there must be hundreds of photos to view. Unfortunately, I had only a film camera along and won't be posting photos. Any thoughts on how to get all those photos available for everyone to view? After coming home for 1.5 days I took off for Tobermory, picked up a J-105 with a couple other people, and set sail for Detroit. We sailed during the days and pulled into convenient harbors at night, tied up, showered, and went out for good meals and some beers or wine. We spent one night at Tobermory, one night at Port Elgin, and one night at Goderich. The capt'n is a very experienced sailor and this was a very good opportunity for me to learn a thing or two. Now, back to day sailing for the rest of the season. I have used up my store of vacation and my wife's tolerance. Arthur... With the prints I have taken on a 35mm Minolta SLR, I scanned them on my older Umax scanner and was able to save and then post in the newsgroup. It took me a while to figure it out on my old software and and at this point I'd have to figure it out again. The key though is a scanner. What's this about pennants & mugs? Maybe some kind soul would snap a pic and post it here so we can see what we missed. It could encourage us to make an extra effort to make next years gathering.IP: 142.167.237.236 |

Arthur, it was a pleasure to have you and Lisa along for the Rendevous. Thanks for making the special effort to attend. I'm glad you both had a great time!Unfortunately, all the major highways pass through Toronto, and it's aweful traffic. You'd think all of Toronto is up north, when driving on the 400 on a weekend. As far as pics are concerned, around here you can have a cd made at time of developing. Walmart and Costco provide the service. Once on a disc, they can be uploaded to a photo storage site, and linked onto the forum. Tobermory is a great place. Last summer we were up there and I was able to sail around the islands. The water is crystal clear! Here is a pic of us on the beach at Flowerpot Island. You can't get in this close on the J boat Hope you can join us all next year! Nice photo on Flower Pot island. No, the j-105 draws 6 feet, we couldn't get that close. We didn't stop at any islands, that is something the Sandpiper does better! I think I'll have the photos put onto CD, as you suggested. THat way I don't have to worry about scanner quality and software, etc. IP: 69.214.191.241 | |
