Great to have you on board. You have a good looking boat. Love the motor. Ist time I've seen the controls in the cockpit. I'm sure you will share the history on the wood cabin entrance hatchway. I think you have the stock trailer. I really like the dark blue boat colour. Mine is robin egg blue. Does anyone else out there have a robin egg boat? I'm thinking of changing mine to the dark blue.IP: 209.195.117.92 |

Yes, Hull #123 (1974) is LIGHT blue (I only use the basic colours plus LIGHT or DARK modifiers). IP: 199.243.115.165 |

Thanks!!! I love the dark blue. I will be puting the new name on the side, which will then have the last letter "e" flowing into a trim line up to the bow. The controls in the cockpit are a GREAT thing. I cannot take the credit for that though, the previous owner did it. As for the wooden hatch, again, none of my doing, but this is something now that I have the boat, I will have to address. It was built nicely, but not really with sea-fare in mind. Apparently the fibreglas one is under it, but has a "crack". I think it may be good ole fibreglas "stress" cracks, not a huge one, but I will be removing the cover, assessing the damage, and re-building another one similar or fixing the fibreglas underneath. ------------------ Rob Belliveau 1976 Sandpiper 565 "Cool Breeze" Halifax NS Soon to be at DYC IP: 24.137.95.29 |

I am somewhat distressed to see so many nice looking boats. I'll have to put a lot of work into my boat before showing up at the rendezvous. IP: 67.107.33.106 |

Woohoo!! Welcome to Sandpiper ownership Rob !! She looks like a fine vessel!Elmet, don't be distressed! We want to stress that all Sandpipers, in any condition, are welcome to the Rendevous! This point has been discussed between Pathfinder and myself. There are alot of Sandpipers out there, so it should be anticipated that everyone will have a different boat! Nevertheless, don't let me stop you from sprucing up your baby!! Eric [This message has been edited by Eric (edited October 19, 2004).] IP: 130.63.85.93 |

Keep in mind Elmet that photos of boats look much better than the actual boat up close. Shortwave, a 70's boat, viewed up close has the scars of many marvellous miles sailed. It gives the boat character.Sandpipers are tough little boats that are meant to be sailed far and often. By the way, our first cottage boat was called "Scars & Scrapes". Need I say more?
