Went to the marina today and took Windroos out of the water.

I thaught that the anti-fouling wax would be a success but in vain. Next year I will apply real anti fouling.

Was not too hard to remove with Screb Free for the kitchen tough. The weather was so nice in Quebec today (27c) so, it was a real pleasure.

I loved reading all the post this summer. My ojectives for next year are:

1- Buy a sun shade as the one someone posted on the forum.
2- Get a reefer for my genoa.
3- Do some great sailing.

Thanks everyone for all the great stuff posted here this summer. You made my days.

Hi Eric

That would be fun indeed. I'll see what I get as for days off in 2006. There should be posting on the matter I presume in the future so, I'll keep an eye on the thread.

Thanks for the info.

Salut, John,

I've been thinking a lot about you, and Michel.

It would be great to have you and your families sail with the fleet at the Sandpiper 565 Rendezvous 2006 in the Thousand Islands. This year's was a superb time for all - skippers, mates, and kids. Brochures and registration forms will be ready by the middle of January.

Following are the basic details:

DATE:
Arrival: Friday, August 4, 2006 - 1800h
Cruise: Saturday, August 5 - 1000h
Regatta: Sunday, August 6 - 1400h
Banquet: Sunday, August 6 - 1800h

PLACE:
Gananoque ON and The Thousand Islands

Question for both John and Michel: What is the strength of the current in the St Lawrence where you are? and what things do you need to do to you handle it?

Best regards,
Stan

Salut Stan!...

I really want to be at the rendez-vous for the next time. I can tell by the pics that it is a great event and that Piper people are a great bunch.Really looking forward to it.

Le "courant" is about 2 knots in the maritime waterway but a little less outside of it.I usually have to deal with 1 to 1/2 knot and a dominant south/west wind going in the same direction.
With this,I have to minimise draft if I want to go up by reducing sails a little and doing short tacks.I remember that I was always ending at the same spot after tacking at the beginning of my first season!... (this one)
This is the main difficulty on the Saint-Laurent.

See you all next years.

Hi Stan.

Yes it would be interesting in august to be there. The place is very beautifull and it ca be a nice experience for my wife.

Here near Quebec city, the current can be up to 5 knots. When the wind run against the tide it can be pretty rough seas. A lot of fun but we have to calculate the tide if we want to come back.

On my way back from a marina about 22km away from mine this summer, wind in my back, I was doing 19.8 km on the GPS with the current. So, it goes fast when you have to go somewhere.

I have a book wich give me the sppeed of the current at different time of the tide period. It also give me it's speed in all point across the river so I can use it to my advantage.

Nice talking to you.
Cheers
