I would love to sail my CL14 in Newport Bay, but the only boat ramp is behing a bridge with clearance for the mast only at very lowest of low tides. I have been reluctant to try pivoting the mast back and paddling under the bridge. How stable is the boat when you tip that mast back to get 16 to 18' of clearance under a bridge?

Aren't you one of those priviledged sailors who bought a new boat? That means your Cl 14 has a pivot. With the right set up (block at bow with line through it and up to mast) it should be easily lowered to about 45 degrees or so. If by yourself, a crutch would be helpful...if not, put the crew to work.
