Looks like the picture thing works.

Now for some of the questions.

1) When I purchased my sandpiper she came with a "Hood" Drifter that had never been used and from what I can tell the mast is not setup to take it (ie: with the extra halyard and block). Where do you think the block should be mounted on the mast for the Drifter.

2) What purchases are you using for your mainsheets and boom vangs (2:1, 3:1, or 4:1). When I bought the boat the guy says here is the bag of goodies.

Patrick: You might find the Sandpiper manual useful. When we bought our boat from Ken, he gave us a copy. Shows how to rig the whole boat. You might even be able to download it from CL.

Hey Patrick, great pics! Love the Challenger parked next to you

I think a drifter is rigged like a genoa[but I'm not 100percent sure]. Spinnakers are rigged with the halyard block above the forestay, on the mast. Jibs/genoas, and possibly drifters are rigged with a block below the forestay. Good looking sail!

My mainsheet is 4:1, the stock boom vang is 2:1. I got a new 4:1 boom vang for Christmas, and I'm anxious to try it this year .

Looks like you have all the right pieces there to rig Barefoot. Like D'Arcy says, the rigging manual is a great resource. It looks like you have a manual there already.

Re your trailer. Is Barefoot sitting straight on the trailer? It appears to me in your pic that the port bunk crosses over the rib in the hull. I would check to be sure that the bunk runs staight along the hull. For comparison, my bunks are just on the outside of those ribs.

When you post a pick from Photobucket, you can direct link it. Under your pic are 3 similar addresses. For this forum you need to link the last link in the column that starts with [IMG]. Like this

From the photo; The hood drifter looks like an asymetrical spinnaker.
Instead of having a guy/sheet on each corner the asym. has the short side (the luff) and it is attached to the bow. It sails similar to a genoa but has the power of a spinaker and can point much higher than the symetrial spinnaker. You can use a spinnaker boom or not.
Good luck.

OPPS I am SORRY!!!!!!
The asym sails like a genoa and doesn't use the spinnaker boom.
Some boats have a retractable bow sprit that the asym is attached to.
SO SORRY I goofed.

Hello All,

I talked with CL today and they told me that the sail I have is the DRS that they sell and the block should be mounted as per the manual for the spinnaker.

As for the trailer, I wouldn't give up the dual axel design. When I brought the boat back from Calgary to Winnipeg it trailered very nice. I didn't know the boat was there and when the semi's passed she didn't sway. As for the bunks I thought something didn't look right. To answer your question Eric, yes the bunks cross over the rib. The one good thing is that this trailer was custom made for the boat many years ago and the bunks are adjustable. I guess thats another thing I have to add to the list of things to.
