I have been doing a little needed maintainance, touching up the Gelcote ect. I found the jib track on the starboard side is loose, the screws will not tighten they just spin. Before I pull them out I wondered if they are self tapping style or do they have nuts on the back side?I guess self tappers need a little epoxy to fill the holes and redrill?thanks, Chris IP: 65.95.109.143 |

The Sandpiper tracks are through bolted, and I got to believe the 16's would be the same! IIRC there're 10 24 thread. If you're going to re-do, I'd make up a backing plate, or go with fender washers. The oem were just the "normal" size washers!Eric IP: 130.63.85.93 |

I agree with Eric: You need some backing. There's a lot of uplift their. When I raced we designed all the parts to take the full weight of the boat. (Visualize your boat hanging by the fairlead.)I'd also make sure no water is getting into the area. I've seen some impressive breakaways of stays, fairleads, etc. caused by rotted out plywood under the fibreglass. D'Arcy IP: 65.95.108.217 | |
