My mast was dented just above the aluminum casting at the foot. I wonder if I should replace the rivits holding the boom vang bailer... Do the rivets for this go through both thicknesses of metal? I would replace them. And yes they go through peices of metal. And use an all Aluminum Rivit.Sid IP: 198.81.26.106 |

Don't worry about the dent, and don't drop the mast again Just ribbing you!! It looks like the dent is just affecting the flap of the opening in the slot! Not to worry, The slot probably absorbed the shock of the impact.Get rid of the steel rivets, and as Sid suggested get all-aluminum. Those rivets are way oversized BTW. What's in your hand?? Had to get the wife to hold my Petzl led headlamp in order to see inside of slot. The way the rivets rusted, they can't be original. Did you notice the holes on the inside of the track? I wonder if somehow the original rivets went through both holes...the ones in the flap and all the way through to the inside ones? Must have been one of the former owners did the dropping. I kind of dropped the mast once, but imact was much higher up hitting my stern rail. D'oh!IP: 142.177.171.178 | |
