I recall someone suggesting we don't want any gap between the rub rail & hull. I most definitely have a warp on the aft section of my port rail. Would I caulk both from above & below? What kind of caulk would I use? Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions. ------------------ Kevin Shortstay III, #901 IP: 198.115.167.12 |

I'd use the new 3M 4000 or older 4200Not 5200 which is very permanent! Save this stuff for thru hulls and other permanent fixtures both above and below the waterline. http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/auto_marine_aero/marine/node_GS77R8JLT2be/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_GS4JK4Y166ge/gvel_QH8HT14PGTgl/theme_us_marine_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler /output_html IP: 141.117.228.250 |

I'd only do the top (the part you can see). If you do the underside it may trap water behind the wood. You would only see the underside gap when swimming around your boat. D'ArcyIP: 65.92.114.67 |

I would agree. I plan to use the sealant on the top edge, but will also 'circle' the holes where the screws drive in to avoid 'splashed-up ' water from getting inside the hull. I'll do this when I remove the rub rails to re-finish.IP: 156.34.82.87 |
