alright, when i'm out sailing i almost always have problems with my rudder, it's not the easiest thing to get down unless i'm directly upwind. i launch from a beach so because of the depth of water the rudder isn't down rigth away. is this a common problem? or is there something i can do to make it easier to put down?

You are using and cleating the little cord that holds the rudder down? and:

I don't know if I customized it years ago, or that's the way it came but...
I shortened the cord and attach an appropriate length solid rubber bungee when I set sail. Within 15 ft or so, the rudder is down.
